Brillenetui / Specs case

Der güldene Hund ziert endlich mein Brillenetui. Dabei war es schnell gemacht.

Finally I embellished the specs case with the golden dog.

So konnte ich gleich die Polsterung und die Verschlussmechanik des Optiker-Etuis nutzen. Fertig!

Entwürfe / Drafts

... zu einigen Stickmustern. Da ich sie selber digitalisiere, arbeite ich die Zeichnung auf Papier nicht weiter aus.

... of some embroidery patterns. I digitize it myself, so it is not necessary to refine it at this stage on paper.

Diesen glücklichen Hasen werden einige Leser bereits kennen. Ich habe ihn vor zwei Jahren hier schon mal unter dem Titel "Abgelehnt" gezeigt.

I mentioned this happy rabbit already here two years ago. It was an illustration for the cover of a game box, but the client wanted another. I loved this rabbit and knew, that the time would come.

Schoki / Chocolate

Sieht diese Schokolade nicht toll aus? So Retro, so modern, so anders, und dieser Name erst: Rotstern. Sie kommt übrigens (aus dem Supermarkt) aus Thüringen. Ich fand, es ist höchste Zeit, dieses wundervolle Design zu erwähnen.

Doesn't this chocolate looks great? So vintage styled, so modern, so different, and that name: Rotstern (Red Star)! I found it in the supermarket (produced in Thueringen, a region of the ancient Eastern Germany). It is high time to mention this wonderful design.

Marker

Wie oft schon habe ich mich von den Layoutmarkern verabschiedet!
Aktueller Rückschlag: ich habe erstmal kräftig aufgestockt. Wenn ich früher nach Kriterien wie "schöne Farbtöne" gewählt habe, so sind es heute ganz pragmatische Punkte, die zählen: Welche Farben haben das Gras, die Bäume, die Haare, der Schulhofbelag, das Butterbrot, ...
Auch diese wildromantische Aufbewahrung in leeren Konservendosen von Kichererbsen, hat vorerst ein Ende. Denn bei dieser großen Farbanzahl (und ungenauen Farbmarkierung der Kappen) würde ich ohne den Kasten und das dazugehörende Farbchart wahnsinnig werden.

Vor sechzehn Jahren habe ich mich für immer von der Arbeit in Werbeagenturen verabschiedet und immer wieder holen mich alte Gewohnheiten ein ;-)

How many times I said goodbye to the layout markers!
Actual rebound: I strongly raised up my stocks. In the past I chose "beautiful colors". Today the aspects are much more pracmatic: Which color fits the gras, the hair, the surface of a school yard, the sandwich, ...
Over and done the storage in empty cans of chick peas. I never could handle such a great variety without an order and the color chart without becoming crazy.

Sixteen years ago I said goodbye forever to the jobs in advertising agencies. On every occasion old customs come up to me ;-)

Kleid / A Dress

Viel (zuviel) Zeit habe ich gebraucht, mir ein Kleid aus diesem genialen Bettbezugstoff zu nähen. Früher ging das irgendwie schneller. Oder hatte ich einfach mehr Zeit?

Nun bin ich mir unschlüssig: Soll ich es noch besticken? Und wenn ja, mit welcher Art von Motiv? Oder sollte ich lieber einen schönen breiten Gürtel dazu nähen?

Much (too much) time I needed to sew a dress of this awful fabric of a duvet (?). There where times I did it more quickly. Or did I just have more time?

Now I am sitting on the fence: Should I embroider something? And if the answer is "yes", which kind of motif? Or would a broad belt the better choice of embellishment?

Die Stare / The Starlings

Vor einer Woche sind die Stare flügge geworden. Was mir nicht so klar war: fliegen können sie jetzt. Aber noch nicht alleine fressen. Vielleicht können sie es, aber dann wollen sie nicht ;-)

So rennen oder fliegen sie bettelnd ihren Eltern hinterher, die noch immer keine ruhige Minute haben.

One week ago the starlings flegded. What I didn't know before: Now they are able to fly. But they cannot eat independently. Perhaps they could, but if so, then they dont't want to ;-)

So they run or fly behind their parents and whining for food.

Turnbeutel / Gym Bag

Bis gestern hatte ich für meine Turnsachen eine ganz normale Plastiktüte. Die verschwindet sowieso in meinem Rucksack. Dann kam mir die Idee, mir etwas Schöneres zu nähen (und zu besticken natürlich). Seit dem Moment ist mir unbegreiflich, wie ich bisher mit so einer ollen Plastiktüte herumlaufen konnte.

I carried my gym stuff in an ordinary plastic bag until yesterday. In my bagpack you can't see it anyway. Then I had the idea to sew and embroider a nicer one. Since that moment I can't imagine how I could use such an old plastic bag.


Die Hasenstickmotive gibt es ab Montag im Shop.

Lecker / Yum

Diese tollen USB-Sticks habe ich geschenkt bekommen. So einen Hamburger-USB wollte ich schon immer haben! Bei den Ausmaßen werden zwar die benachbarten USB-Anschlüsse den Hub kurzfristig räumen müssen, aber das Auge isst ja mit ;-)

I got these awful USB flash drives as a gift. I always wanted such a hamburger USB! The neighbouring USB connections will have to leave admittedly their ports when using the hamburger due to the dimensions, but it delights the eye ;-)

Hurra! / Hooray!

Mein Buch über Gefühle hat es als Buchtipp in die Mai-Ausgabe Familie und Co. geschafft. Ich freue mich.

Hasenpause / Rabbits Break

Es gibt Ideen, die "passieren" einfach, ohne dass ich danach gesucht hätte. Verblüffend finde ich daran, dass sich mir der tiefere Sinn oder die eigentliche Absicht erst im Nachhinein zeigt.
Ich "musste" zum Beispiel diesen Kaffeetrinker in dem dusseligen Hasenkostüm zeichnen. Er lag mir so am Herzen, dass ich ihn unbedingt in der neuen Stickmusterkollektion haben wollte. Wofür er wirklich stand, wurde mir erst klar, als er schon fertig war.

Er steht für die Pause im täglichen Zirkus. Das ist das Kostüm. Der Zirkus, der Job, all die Dinge, die getan werden müssen. Der Kaffee bedeutet für mich als alte Kaffeetante eine Oase, eine Pause, ein Innehalten in dem Getöse und ein "für mich sein".
Die neuen Stickmuster "Hasen" sind ab Montag im Shop erhältlich.

There are ideas that "happen", without any seeking before. Amazingly I often recognize the deeper meaning of it afterwards.
For example I "had" to draw this coffee drinking person, wearing that silly rabbit costume. I loved it so much that I absolutely wanted to have it in my new embroidery pattern collection. I just realized what it meant when it was finished.

It stands for the break in the daily circus. That's the costume. The circus, the job, all the things to be done. The coffee is an oasis for me as an addicted to coffee, a break, a pause for a moment and a "Just for me".
The new embroidery patterns "rabbits" are available from next Monday onwards in the shop.

Radierer / Eraser

Mein häufigst benutztes Arbeitsgerät zur Zeit: Der elektrische Anspitzer und der elektrische Radierer. Und Stift und Daumen natürlich :-)

Ich weiß noch genau, wie meine Reaktion war, als ich zum ersten Mal einen elektrischen Radierer sah. Wer braucht denn so was? So ein snobistischer Schwachsinn!
Damals habe ich aber auch noch keine daumennagelgroßen Fahrräder gezeichnet. Und mal eben die Radnabe wegradieren, um sie zu korrigieren, das mach mir mal einer mit einem normalen Radiergummi vor. Gehen tut das auch, aber der Zeit- und Komfortgewinn der elektrischen Variante ist für mich unbezahlbar.

Actual my most frequently used tools: the electric sharpener and the electric eraser. And the pencil and the thump as well of course :-)

I remember my reactions, when I saw an electric eraser the first time. Who needs such a thing? Such a snobby rubbish!
That time I hadn't to draw thumbnail sized bicycles yet. And it is not easy at all to erase the wheel hub to correct. It may be possible with a normal eraser, but the saving of time and the comfort are invaluable.

Gesehen! / Seen!

Ich habe sie gesehen! Zumindest zwei der Starenkinder.
I saw them! At least two of the starling fledglings.

Tasche / Purse

Ein Täschchen für Kleinigkeiten. Genäht aus Bettwäsche, bestickt mit Geist Margarethe.

Feine Stöffchen / Finest Fabric

Ich habe mir etwas gegönnt. Gestern im blaugelben Möbelhaus. Und im blauen Kaufhaus.
Nur der Gedanke an die begrenzte Zuladungsmöglichkeit meines körbchenlosen Fahhrades konnte meinen Rausch stoppen :-)

I was shopping yesterday in the blue yellow furniture store. And in the big blue store. Only the thought of the limited capacity of my bicycle without a basket could stop my rapture :-)

Oje / Oh dear

Eben fiel es mir wie Schuppen von den Augen. Wie BLIND war ich denn? Als ich bei Frau Mutti in diesem Posting "Aber sticken. So eine Art Ostermotiv." las, da wurde mir plötzlich klar, warum ich den Osterhasen gestern kaufen musste. Das ist doch gerade mein Kreativ Thema! Also nicht direkt Ostern, aber so ähnlich. Nächste Woche kann ich etwas zeigen. Und ich habe es bis eben nicht bemerkt!

Ich glaube es immer mehr: Das Unterbewusstsein hat alles im Griff, während das mickrige Bewusstsein blind hinterhertaumelt ;-)

The scales just fell from my eyes. How BLIND was me? When I read at Frau Mutti in this posting "But embroidering. A kind of easter motif" suddenly I knew why I had to buy the easter rabbit yesterday. This is my creativ subject! Not exactly easter, but similiar. Next week I can show something about. And I was unaware of that up to now.

I believe more and more: The subconscious mind has all under control, while the puny conscious is blindly trailing behind ;-)

Hase / Rabbit

Beim letzten Einkauf habe ich ihn noch souverän ignoriert. Dieses Mal war jeder Widerstand zwecklos. Der rote Zuckerhase sieht noch genau so aus, wie ich ihn von meiner Kindheit her in Erinnerung habe. Der Protest des Verstands "Was willst du damit, den isst du doch nie." hatte keine Chance gegen dieses verführerische Glitzern. Ich musste ihn haben ;-)

(Auf dem Meilenstein, auf dem er sich ausruht, steht: 12 km Hasendorf.)

At the last shopping, I ignored it masterly. This time any resistance was futile. The red rabbit still looks exactly like it did in my childhood. The protest of my mind "Wherefore do you need it, you'll never eat it." had no chance against this alluring glitter. It had to be mine ;-)

Die Stare / The Starlings

Und ich wunderte mich, was die Stare Weißes im Schnabel haben, wenn sie die Hütte verlassen. Nun weiß ich es: sie sind nicht nur für die Ver- sondern auch für die Entsorgung bei den Kleinen zuständig. Dies tragen sie sorgsam weg und legen es irgendwo an unterschiedlichen Stellen ab.

I was wondering about that white thing in the beak of the starling leaving the box. Now I know: they do not only care about the supply also the disposal of the nestlings. They carry that away carefully and deposit it somewhere in different places.

Farben / Colors

Diese Farben werde ich mir merken. Ich liebe diese Kombination!
I will keep these colors in mind. I love this combination!

Der Specht / A Woodpecker

... kam heute zu Besuch. Da hat der sterbende Apfelbaum wenigstens noch etwas Gutes als Futterherberge für die Vögel.

... was visiting the garden. At least one benefit of the apple tree dying off: it is a food storage for the birds.

Schnittlauchblüten / The Chives blossoms

Seit Tagen, ach was sag ich, seit Wochen warte ich, dass der Schnittlauch endlich blüht. Der Appetit auf Schnittlauchblütenbutter wird täglich größer. Heute hatte meine Geduld ein Ende.

I am waiting many days, no weeks, for the blossom time of the chives. My appetite on chives blossom flavoured butter increases from day to day.


Heute bin ich zur Ernte geschritten, habe die Blätter von den kleinen Blütchen abgeschnitten und mit einer Gabel unter die Butter gemischt. Noch etwas Salz dazu und ein paar Stunden ziehen lassen, dann ist die Schnittlauchblütenbutter fertig. Auf Brot oder Toast superlecker! Und ein Augenschmeichler :-)
Ich freue mich schon aufs Abendbrot.

Today I brought in the harvest, cut off the petals of the tiny blossoms and mixed them with a fork in the butter. Add a bit salt and allow to infuse some hours. The chives blossom butter ist ready to eat. Yummy on bread or toast! And nice to look at :-)
I am already looking forward to the evening meal today.

Die Geister, die ich rief .../ Spirits that I've cited ...

Passend zu meinen Hundestickmustern hat mir eine liebe Freundin ein lustiges (holländisches) Buch aus New York mitgebracht: "No dog signs" aus dem Pepin Press Verlag ist eine Sammlung von Schildern mit Hundeabbildungen aus aller Welt.
Mmh, was soll ich davon halten, wenn Freunde bei Hundehaufen an mich denken?!

A dear friend gave me a funny (Dutch) book, she bought in New York. "No dog signs" published by Pepin Press is a collection of many many signs of all over th world with dog images. She thought of my dog embroidery designs when she saw this.
Mmh, what do I have to think about, when friends are thinking of me, when they see a doggie do?!

Vogeleltern / Bird parents

Die jungen Stare machen mittlerweile einen solchen Radau in ihrer Kiste wenn einer von den Eltern kommt, dass ich täglich mit ihrem Ausflug rechne. Auf dem Foto ist jedenfalls nur ein elterlicher Bürzel zu sehen.

The young starlings are making such a noise in their box when one of their parents comes in, that I expect daily that they will fly out. On the photo you can see only the parental rump.

Vögel eben / Just Birds

Ha, endlich habe ich Herrn Amsel mit seinem Kind gemeinsam auf das Foto bekommen!
Finally I got a picture of Mr. Blackbird with his child!


Das Amselkind alleine ist da schon einfacher zu erwischen. Hier sitzt es am Bad vor dem Waldmeister.
It is much more easier to take a photo of the blackbird child quite alone. Here it is sitting at the bath in front of the sweet woodruff.
